AIS Backup Computer Room Air Conditioner

Project Overview

Updated: October 22, 2007

Project Description:

This project will evaluate our current and future computer room backup air conditioning requirements.  It will involved analysis of current and future distribution and tonnage needs.  Evaluation of the two 25+ year old backup units currently on the floor including, output, service windows and service costs.  A complete loss of building air conditioning without adequate backup air conditioning will lead to catastrophic server failures in less then 10 minutes.  The cost of catastrophic server failure would be astronomical.  With each equipment addition or upgrade comes an increase in the heat load and amount of heat sensitive data on the computer room floor.  Planning and preparation at this point can guarantee computer room environmental integrity

Project Status:

A new Liebert  20 ton backup air conditioner unit has been installed and certified.  Training and documentation have also been completed.

This project is completed.
