Application Portfolio System Java Pilot

Project Overview

Updated: May 1, 2008

Project Description:

The purpose of this project is to complete development of the AIS Application Portfolio system originally built to manage the inventory of AIS application systems. The project will replace the current ASP-based system with a Java-based system and incorporate identified enhancements.  This project will also provide a training ground for Java developers and the Project Managers to better understand the application development framework and Project management process within AIS.

Project Status:

The APS team is currently in the development phase.  The APS system is broken into two subsystems: Application Management and APS Admin. The team has completed the Admin portion of the application and is now developing the application management subsystem.  This subsystem is providing excellent training ground for the developers because of the intricate functionality required for the user.

This past month the APS team has conducted a final code review with Technical Services.  The team reviewed/discussed the input and incorporated changes into future coding practices.  The team has also upgraded to a new JBOSS (4.2) platform and JSF 1.2 framework. This upgrade required several code changes in both subsystems.

Currently we are preparing the application for QA testing: code clean up and bug fixes in the development environment. The Data Migration from the old system is in process and near completion as well.  We will continue to evaluate and make recommendations to the Java process and environment.
