AIS provides a variety of programming and system design services in support of the administrative functions of the university. Questions about the services available should be directed to the AIS Service Desk at 353-4420 extension 311. The MSU department requesting programming services from AIS will need to submit either an MSU Project Proposal form or a Request for Application Services (RAS) form. The MSU Project Proposal form is used when you believe the total amount of effort (including both information technology and functional office) is likely to exceed 160 total hours. The RAS form is used when the total amount of effort is likely less than 160 total hours. MSU Project Proposal MSU has established a project identification and prioritization process for projects that exceed 160 total hours of effort. The purpose of the MSU Project Proposal form is to collect basic, high-level information about proposed projects to support evaluation of the project’s various impacts and prioritization among the many other projects requiring constrained business and technical resources. Impacts considered include personnel resources, financial resources, and impact on other projects. The MSU Project Proposal form is located under the Project Prioritization topic at http://www.ebsp.msu.edu/tools_and_resources/. Instructions for completing the form are included as well as where to submit the form. Once submitted the project proposal will be reviewed by the Steering Committee and the requestor will be notified if the request is approved or disapproved. Request for Application Services (RAS) The RAS form is for projects expected to be less than 160 total hours. The RAS is submitted directly to the AIS department by mailing it or delivering it to AIS, Room 2, Administration Building. A PDF version of the RAS form and instructions for completing it can be found at http://www.ais.msu.edu/Images/N064.pdf. You will need to fill in all the necessary information electronically before printing, signing and sending it to AIS. |
